D’Empaire has represented international and Venezuelan clients in arbitrations under several rules systems and arbitral institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Caracas Chamber of Commerce and CEDCA.

Our representations include:

  • a major international manufacturer of hot briquetted iron (HBI) in an ICSID arbitration against the Government of Venezuela
  • a Chinese oil & gas company in an ICC arbitration against a Nigerian contractor arising out of obligations under an oil rigs joint venture agreement
  • a Canadian energy company in a dispute with a Venezuelan state-owned company over the supply of orimulsion fuel under the AAA rules
